Nate Johnson - Photographer
From the moment I was introduced to photography as a young teenager, I knew it would be a big part of my life; however, it was never something that I was encouraged to persue as a career because "artists don't make a living". As such, school, life and work, took precedence and my cameras were something I only picked up on holidays, vacations, and the occasional wedding. Fast forward to a September Friday night in 2017, I grab my camera and head out to a local football game with friends. One game led to another and by the start of 2018 I had a handful of parents asking about senior portraits. Today, I have the privilege of working with several local schools, booster clubs and youth programs, providing banners, team and individual photos as well as game coverage, so parents can enjoy watching their athletes and still get photos of them playing.
My greatest passion however, is Senior Portrait Photography. My cinematic themed style is captured by combining controlled lighting with shadows, compostion and saturated color, quite popular with the guys, and increasingly liked by the ladies. I want to tell a Senior’s story, who they are, what they do and capture a possible glimpse into the person they will become. I will crawl across a field, balance on a ledge or tread through water while seniors leap through the air, slide into home or play drums in a creek - senior portraits should be FUN if not a little grungy!!
2023 brought about a re-investment in wedding photography. Having been placed on a brief hold while developing the Senior and Sports divisions, I am excited to continue working with couples on their special day.
I LOVE food and in my down time enjoy dinner with friends be it fine dinning, take out or back yard BBQ. I enjoy camping and hiking with Big Bend National Park being a favorite destination and would like to re-vist Utah and Arizona. Although I have traveled trough Iowa, I am definatly looking forward to a future trip to the upper mid-west. You may also find me on a lake shore or beach just sitting with my feet up, but with so many people and places begging to be photographed, the feet wont stay up for long.
but probably my favorite travel destinations would be the lake or beach.
